After starting xblig.co.uk about 16 months ago, alas it has come time to say goodbye and put the site out to pasture.
As you have no doubt noticed, I have been less and less involved in the site of late as I started to focus more on games development. However even taking a back seat involves a small amount of work which is still more than I am able to commit.
With this in mind, once a few more reviews have been completed by Kelly and Sarah, there will be no more updates to the site. The search site will still update and remain active as this is an automated procedure, but there shall be no further reviews or otherwise site updates.
If you are a developer and have already sent in any tokens, fear not as I shall be passing these onto Master Blud (I remembered the space this time) at VVGtv. You can watch VVGtv's reviews at either their youtube page or over on XboxHornet.com
I would like take this opportunity to thank those that have helped and supported me. The list is just way too long to list everyone, but one person stands out and that is Neal, the founder of XboxHornet.com and now lead designer of BBQ Games, whose help has been immeasurable. Thanks Neal.
Well, it's been fun and the only thing that could possibly have made it any better would have been a little support from the right places, but alas this never happened and still doesn't happen for a lot of XBLIG review sites, whose owners put their hearts and souls into their site. I can but hope that one day that people will see the errors of their ways and give these hard working dedicated people the support and respect they deserve.
Well, I suppose that's it. Farewell everyone and don’t forget to check out the BBQ Games site - there might be a surprise or two in store.....

Snailien Invasion is a 2D platform shooter similar to Liero and Soldat. Taking the battlefield to the Xbox 360, the game features full HD support, eight player network games and split screen support for up to four players. Expect fast-paced action, grappling-hook swinging fun and tons of weapons to research and try out!
* Play against your friends in the classic modes (deathmatch, team deathmatch, capture the flag).
* Play solo/coop against never-ending waves of drones in the survival mode.
* Research over 30 weapons, all with varying degrees of weirdness, yet useful in their own way.
* Terrain hardness: Some weapons produce concrete, which is much harder to dig though than normal terrain. Gratification for all you fort-builders out there!
* A fun and quirky/weird sci-fi theme, complete with theremins in the intro music ![]()
The game is currently nearing completion and is expected to be released in August.
PERTH, Western Australia - July 19 - Gnomic Studios are proud to announce the first major update of their critically acclaimed Xbox 360 game Square Off, available as of July 19th 2010 via Xbox Live for free.
Lead developer Aranda Morrison explained why Gnomic felt Square Off was in need of a major patch. “We decided to work on a free update because there were a number of niggling issues with the initial release we wanted to address," he said. "This turned out to be the perfect opportunity to throw in some bonus content.”
The update includes 2 new Deathmatch levels and a whole multitude of little tweaks to make Deathmatch play substantially more awesome than it was before. For single player and co-operative play, another level has been added, and the difficulty adjusted so the game is both noob friendly and a challenge to veterans.
Every level now has scoreboards for your friend list and your local players in addition to the existing global scoreboard, so now you can know whether you are the toughest square in your crew. Player profile statistics and per level statistics have been included, so no more arguing over who was the weakest link in your team. The sound effects have been improved and new music tracks have been added that we feel suit the game more than some of the original music.
Gnomic recently dropped the price for the game down to a measly $1(80 Ms Points), making it 66% cheaper than the original retail price. According to Lead Tester Joshua Stewart, this was done as an experiment to see the how the price cut affects conversion rates and sales figures. "We plan to make the results of this experiment public sometime soon," he said. "This way the Indie game development community can use this data to help guide their own pricing decisions.”
Additions to the game include a total of 3 new levels, updated AI, local and friend list scoreboards, player statistics, audio improvements and a whole raft of minor tweaks, all for the rather generous price of nothing.
Demo versions of Square Off can be found here for the US and here for the UK
