Mind’s Eye Of Jupiter – 01 Review

Mind\'s Eye of Jupiter - 01

A puzzle game along the same lines as Myst, Mind’s Eye Of Jupiter offers a challenge to those who are fans of games that make you think. The plot of the game itself is fairly straight-forward. You are a woman named Alice searching some ancient Roman ruins for the fabled Mind’s Eye of Jupiter. An item that is said to be able to transport you through time. The controls are fairly simple. You use the joysticks to move and look around and the A button when the dialogue box comes up for whatever action you need to do.

Graphically, this is a superb game. The scenery is extremely detailed and you can explore almost anyplace within the confines of the game itself. Beware though, there is less interaction with the scenery than you would think.

I wasn’t all that impressed with the sound in this one though. You had some light music in the background and a few sound effects here and there but for the most part was so low as to be easily ignorable.

Now, as I said, the game is great for people who like puzzles. However, I found this a little too difficult to figure out some of the puzzles on the first level because I was expecting something difficult. For those that decide to play this game take heed, look for the simple answer. As for the levels themselves, you have only two. This doesn’t mean that you won’t get some good gameplay out of it, but it does mean that you shouldn’t expect to continue playing right through.

The developer has a great concept here with the “to be continued” style of game. However, for a game with only 2 levels I believe that it may be a little over-priced. It is for this reason alone that I have decided to give it only 3 thumbs up. A worthy game and perhaps the developer will consider a lower price on the next episode to keep the gamers coming.
