Planet Pinball Review

Planet Pinball

Its cake time again! Battenberg Software have released their next title on Xbox Live Indie Games and that is Planet Pinball, a great choice because as far as I can tell there aren't many pinball games out there for the Xbox360 (I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong here), so happy times for the pinball fans out there.

Planet Pinball, being what it is, Pinball, makes it sort of hard to write a review for as well, its pinball, so please bear with me on this one.

It's been a while since I've played a game of pinball, but it is something that I have always enjoyed, but I have never played it on a console before and to be honest it was a bit of a letdown, but I think that was more to the fact that its console based pinball.

However, the game itself has been well constructed and the audio is nice and upbeat and not too repetitive. One small issue I found was that the ball was moving a tad too fast, so that did take a bit of getting used to.

Planet Pinball allows for extremely high scoring with the airlock bonus "Moon Shot", which lasts for 50 seconds and makes all locks and ramps score 5,000,000 each time. Sadly to say, I never experienced this :(

Whilst there is nothing wrong with the in-game controls, the menu controls are a bit iffy:
Start - Play
A - Options
B - Exit
X - Instructions

It just felt a bit weird.

To summarise, Planet Pinball is well put together and offers what I see as great replayability. Oh and if you want to check out the high scores, you'll need to leave the game on the menu screen for a few seconds without touching the controls and they should start scrolling through.

The "vote" was for the game and not the post. heh

I've been waiting and waiting for a good pinball game to come out for XBLIG ... and judging from what I played of the trial for this, I'm still waiting.

Of course, this is just going by the trial. I could be wrong and there could be LOADS of interesting things that table does outside of it.

Or maybe not. I dunno.
