Freqµency Review

Freqµency

In Freqµency you play the role of a robot called Gray who specializes in lossless energy transfer and is given the task of defeating Nemesis (and his four cronies), an AI that has everyone human on the continent, save Callahan, Ian & Illya.

The genre of Freqµency is a platformer, but I would say that it is equally a bit of a puzzler too.

Sounds easy enough so far right. In the game your health and remaining firepower are one in the same, so you need to be a little more choosey with your shots. However, fear not as you can use coloured items in the surrounding world to recharge your health/power. If missed shots hit something, that object takes on its colour and you are able to recharge from that object and also single objects can hold multiple of the three colours: blue, red & yellow.

It took me quite a while to get used to the whole health and firepower, being one in the same, as I'm the sort that likes to go in guns blazing and kept wandering whilst fighting the first boss (Apollo), why I would die after just a single hit!

I found Freqµency kept my mind fairly active whilst trying to keep my health up, look out for coloured items in the world off which to recharge, switching colours when one ran out so I would keep firing etc. I also found myself in one of those situations where you say to yourself, after the next save point, I'll call it a night, very much like one of those just one more beer and I'll head off home situations.

All in all, I give it a
