After the success of the previous XBL Gold Membership giveaway, I have decided to conduct another giveaway for a 1 Month XBL Gold Membership code. I will give away this code when the follower count for xbligcouk reaches 300.
This code has been sponsored by Simply HangMan.
To enter for the code all you have to do is follow xbligcouk
Well, it appears that this giveaway competition isn't working very well; we have been stuck at around 147 twitter followers for quite a while now and at this rate, no-one is going to win the code. Now I'm sure a lot of you would say "Hey, no problem, just give it to me", but then that wouldn't be fun now would it?
So I have decided to change things slightly to try and make it a bit easier for someone to get. The new competition will be to answer three questions to get a possible three prizes. Obviously each previous question must be correct to enable you to be automatically entered for the next prize. The prizes in order will be as follows:
1. Puzzle? code.
2. Simply HangMan code.
3. A 1 Month XBL Gold Membership code.
Here's how it will work:
You may or may not have noticed that the flag next to my posts has changed - while this does not represent my current location, it does represent the country of my birth.
You need to answer the following questions:
1. What country is represented by that flag?
2. In which town was I born? HINT: It is in the south-eastern province.
3. What is the name of the national monument that lies close to this town.
Now, this may seem hard, but I have done a quick Google on it and once you get one answer, it kinda just snowballs from there.
I will also accept the old names for the country and town as correct answers. Post your answers as comments to this post.
Note: It may be possible (but unlikely, unless there is only one entrant) for the same person, to win all three prizes.
Initially, this competition will run for 48 hours, meaning that it will end at 1000BST on Saturday the 10th of October 2009. However, it may be extended. As we have had over a dozen entries so far, I have decided to extend the entry deadline until 1900BST on Sunday the 11th of October 2009. Keep those entries coming!
UPDATE: So far there have been some answers in, which I was going to publish, but seeing as they are all correct, I thought that I would probably hold back until the end of the competition before publishing, rather than give the answers away and destroy the fun for everyone else who hasn't entered. Keep those entries coming!
Ok, right the competition has finished. No more entries will be accepted. The correct answers are:
1. Zimbabwe
2. Masvingo
3. Great Zimbabwe Ruins - I also accepted Old Fort national monument, though not the answer that I was looking for it is not technically incorrect.
I have provided links to the Wikipedia entries for each answer, but have't actually read though each of the articles, so am unsure of their accuracy.
14 entries into the draw for the Puzzle? code.
11 entries into the draw for the Simply HangMan code.
10 entries into the draw for the 1 Month XBL Gold Membership code.
I will publish all the answers and will announce the draw in the next couple of hours.
