Another great game I'll not be buying is Rotor'scope... why can't developers add an optional colourblind setting to their games?

I can see that it may be a pain in some games, but in something like Rotor'scope, where you have a few coloured blocks, why can't they add a symbol to the block aswell so colourblind people can play the game?

Getting really fed up with it now - so many games out there rely on people being able to see the difference between Red and Green and I'm not buying them anymore!

Aarrrggghhhhh! :x

Sorry... rant over. But please... if any developers are reading this, just spare a thought for the 8% of males and 1% of females that may not be able to play your game due to this small omission.

I've just tweeted this post to hopefully raise awareness a bit. I'm trying to keep it in mind for my games. The only place I'm using red and green is in here, but then I am doing a red cross and a green tick above the avatars heads, so that shouldn't matter as they are easily distinguishable by shape - am I correct in saying that, or is it total rubbish?

Aw, thanks for that, Mark... yea, the tick / cross distinguishes for those unable to see the colour difference, so that's fine :)

Great news - it looks like Rotor'scope will be getting a patch that includes colourblind options! (See link from Xblaratings below). Yippeee!!

I'm gonna break my 400 point Indie game embargo with this one, once they're in place:

If you tweak the red to orange it's distinguishable from green.... or if you tweak the green to turquoise, then it's distinguishable from the red. But using primary red and green look the same (to red / green colourblind gamers, that is).

Feedback I've had from other colourblind gamers is that red / blue is the best 2 colours... or orange / cyan.

Thanks for that. It's certainly worth taking note of and should be easy enough to implement in games.

Just got Bioshock 2 and the hacking sections are unplayable for red/green colourblind people - you have to stop the moving arm on the green but not red sections - they both look the same!!

Ridiculous....

For anyone interested... this article shows what the hacking on Bioshock 2 looks like if you're colourblind:
